Our Commitment to the Environment

Coldstream Holiday Park Green Credentials

Here at Coldstream Holiday Park, we believe our stunning location on the banks of the River Tweed is our greatest asset. We are passionate about protecting this beautiful landscape and nurturing the local wildlife that calls it home. Our park was designed from the ground up to exist in harmony with nature, and we are continually working to make our operations as sustainable as possible.

⭐ David Bellamy Conservation Award Winner

We are incredibly proud to have achieved the David Bellamy Pollinator Patch Challenge award for our work in creating habitats for bees and butterflies. This recognises our dedication to creating a welcoming environment for these vital creatures.

Designing with Nature in Mind

Our park was carefully planned to blend beautifully with the natural slope of the land, reducing its visual impact and creating a peaceful, spacious setting.

  • Natural Screening: We’ve planted a rich mix of native woodland, trees, and shrubs that not only enhance the scenery but also create natural, private pockets for our pitches. Find out more about our sustainable landscaping.
  • Wildflower Meadows: Alongside our managed grassland, we have dedicated areas that are being cultivated as wildflower meadows, providing a vital source of food for pollinators.

A Haven for Wildlife

We work closely with professional ecologists to ensure our park is a sanctuary for local wildlife. We are delighted that our guests can enjoy seeing a rich variety of animals right here on their doorstep.

Throughout the year, you can spot returning oystercatchers, families of hares playing at the top of the field, and the welcome sight of nesting swallows in the summer. Our southern boundary woodland is also a thriving habitat for great spotted woodpeckers, owls, and badgers. Read more about local wildlife.

As our park continues to develop, we are committed to enhancing these habitats further. In the future, you’ll find beetle banks, bird boxes, bat boxes, ‘bee bricks’, and other insect homes strategically placed to support our entire local ecosystem.

Sustainable Park Practices

We are committed to minimising our environmental footprint in our day-to-day operations.

  • Dark Sky Friendly: We use low-level lighting across the park to minimise light pollution, making it a perfect spot for stargazing.
  • Resource Management: We actively monitor and control our waste output and consumption of resources, always looking for ways to reduce, reuse, and recycle.
  • Environmental Training: Our team is trained in environmental matters to ensure we all work together to uphold our green commitments.

Our Ongoing Commitment

Protecting the environment is an ongoing journey. Having achieved our Pollinator award, we are now excited to be working towards the David Bellamy Special Species Award, focusing on creating specialist habitats for unique local wildlife.
