Here’s the feedback we received from the AA:

“In terms of the AA Quality Standards Coldstream Holiday Park has successfully achieved an AA rating of 4 Stars Caravan and Camping with a Quality Score of 87%. This is a very well presented site and whilst still quite new has seen the grounds and surrounding areas bed down from the initial development work. Secure barriers control the entrance and exit which will always give peace of mind to the guests.

A small but welcoming reception is located at the entrance with some additional local and tourist information on hand here. Once into the park the touring section is well maintained and presented with no ground issues nor with litter or debris to detract from the positive first impressions. The amenities are of a good size with individual cubicles available for privacy if required. Here the covered dish wash is an added benefit with a small fridge freezer available for the guests use. Laundry facilities are provided as standard and appear to be well used by the people in the site. As mentioned on the day it was great to see a purpose designed Chemical Waste Disposal unit on site but suggested having a hand sanitiser unit fitted beside this so the guest is able to use this when completed with the CWD area. (Now Supplied) 

Pitches are of a good size with the tent park benefitting from a number of electric hook ups with a number of picnic tables available for use. The roads and walkways are well maintained as expected with clear precise signage evident for all parts of the park. Close to the entrance a very good children’s play park is available and seemed to very well appreciated by the younger children. Glamping pods that are all singing and dancing are available as are the more basic option which will provide a different camping experience. Even in the entry level units there is underfloor heating and Wi-Fi as standard.”

With this great feedback and the 5 star award being well within reach we are delighted to continue to provide a fantastic caravan and camping experience! Winter holidays are back this year at Coldstream Holiday Park, and we’re building on the fantastic feedback we received from our holidaymakers last year. In 2023 for the first time we made a number of holiday homes and glamping pods available for self catering holidays through December, January and some of February, the response from guests who stayed with us was fantastic. With families enjoying cosy winter breaks, exploring the Scottish Borders and Northumberland.

This season 2024/25, we’re enhancing the winter holiday experience with even more accommodations available, including our Swift Edmonton Lodge. And we are super excited to be open for all of February, including Valentines and Half Term Holidays. Thats right, this year by popular demand we have brought our annual shut down forward to January meaning guests can indulge in our heated Glamping Pods, cozy Holiday Homes, or experience a rejuvenating winter hot tub holidays.

Coldstream Holiday Park has established itself as a cherished destination for holiday-goers seeking a blend of nature and comfort. Here are some essential guidelines to help you enjoy your stay while preserving the countryside for future visitors.

1. Leave No Trace
The Scottish Borders and Northumberland are home to breathtaking landscapes, from rolling hills and serene rivers to idylic coastlines. To keep these areas beautiful, please adhere to the “Leave No Trace” principles:

– Pack it in, pack it out: The old saying “Take nothing but photos, leave nothing but footprints” is a great moto to remember when you and your family are outdoors. Take all your litter with you! Even biodegradable waste like fruit peels and nut shells, over time if these are left they can have a detrimental affect to the local area.

– Dispose of waste properly: Use designated bins for recycling and rubbish. If no bins are available, the closest town or village will have public bins and recycling points available, if you are far from towns bring your waste back to the holiday park and use the recycling bins we provide.

2. Respect Local Wildlife & Livestock
The region is teeming with wildlife, including deer, squirrels, badgers, rabbits, and numerous bird species. While observing these creatures, maintain a respectful distance. Be especially careful around livestock, including cows, sheep and horses.

– Stick to marked paths: Sticking to the path can help prevent erosion and protect natural habitats.

– Do not feed animals: Human food can harm wildlife and disrupt their natural behaviours.

– Control pets: Keep dogs on a leash and under control to prevent them from chasing or harming wildlife.

– Observe quietly: Loud noises can stress animals and disrupt their environment. Enjoy the tranquility and let nature’s sounds prevail.

3. Protect Waterways
Rivers like the Tweed and Coquet are not only scenic but also vital ecosystems. For more information about the fantastic work being done to maintain and improve the river Tweed check out The River Tweed Foundation. You can help keep these valuable waterways clean and healthy by:

– Avoid polluting: Do not throw anything into rivers, streams, or lakes.

– Respect fishing regulations: Follow local guidelines and acquire necessary permits (ask at reception for more information or contact Coldstream & District Angling Association). Practice catch and release if applicable. You must not Fish on Sundays.

– Be mindful of water use: Conserve water by using only what you need and ensuring taps are turned off properly. Our hot tub holidays are a firm favourite with guests, you can help save water by making sure the covers are in place when not in use and always taking a quick shower before using the hot tub.

4. Fire Safety
Wildfires can cause significant damage to the countryside, especially during the dry summer months. Please avoid lighting fires in remote areas including BBQ’s. Check the Scottish Fire and Rescue Page for more information and help them help in protecting the countryside and outdoor areas.

This year, Easter arrived early, with Good Friday falling on the 29th of March and Easter Monday on the 1st of April. Imagine our delight when we were greeted by three glorious days of sunshine! Friday brimmed with energy and anticipation as visitors from across the UK descended upon us to settle in for the extended weekend. With 38 touring and camping pitches, 11 glamping pods complete with hot tubs, and over 40 self-catering holiday homes featuring the luxury of hot tubs, there truly is something here to cater to every taste – whether it be adventurous escapades, romantic retreats, or family vacations.

As the sun dipped toward the horizon, laughter filled the air as families eagerly took their first plunge into their private hot tubs, barbecues sizzled on the camping field, and everyone settled in for a weekend of exploration and relaxation. Our guests ventured out from the park to explore the picturesque riverside walks along the banks of the River Tweed, uncovering the wonders of the Hirsel estate, and, of course, delving into the heart of Coldstream itself. Situated right on the Scottish Border, Coldstream serves as an ideal launchpad for discovering the treasures of both the Scottish Borders and Northumberland – from iconic towns to rolling countryside and miles of breathtaking coasts and beaches. Saturday morning saw our reception buzzing with activity as guests eagerly gathered information on local events, activities, and attractions.
