Jacob’s Well and the Nuns Walk

A pleasant circular walk from Coldstream Holiday Park to Coldstream Bridge and back through Jacob’s Well and along the Nuns Walk will reward you with magnificent views of the River Tweed, North Northumberland and the Cheviot Hills in the distance.

This route is 3.8km long and should take you between 1 to 1 1/2 hours to complete. View the OS Route Map

Starting at Coldstream Holiday Park, walk along Kelso Road toward Coldstream Town Centre, continue through town past Majoribanks Monument and on to Coldstream Bridge. Descending the steps next to the bridge down to Jacob’s Well will reward you with a stunning view of Coldstream Bridge, an iconic sandstone bridge spanning the River Tweed and Scottish / English Border. From here follow a short river side path and return up another set of steps, following the bath back toward town turning left at the start of the Nuns Walk.

From here follow the elevated path above the banks of the River Tweed toward Tweed Green, here there is a Memorial Sword and Stone to commemorate the Battle of Flodden fought between the Sottish and English on the 9th of September 1513. From the memorial follow the footpath along the side of Leet Water, a small tribuarty that runs into the Tweed, this path will take you back to Kelso Road where you can return to the holiday park or head back into town for a well deserved refreshment.
