Lonely Planet have announced South Scotland as one of their best destinations for Travel in 2023. The list includes 30 world wide destinations, broken down into 5 categories, Eat, Journey, Unwind, Connect and Learn. It is not unusual for Scotland to appear on “Top Destination” lists for travellers, the country as a whole is a cask of wild breathtaking landscape filled with rich history, vibrant culture and unique experiences waiting to be had.
What makes this choice by Lonely Planet different to many others is they focus on South Scotland. An area that stretches across the Scottish Borders in the East to Dumfries and Galloway in the West, easily accessible from Scotland’s central belt and two largest cities, Glasgow and Edinburgh. The South of Scotland consists of rolling countryside, moorland and gentle hills as well as a wealth of vibrant country towns and villages, many of which have magnificent Castles, Abbeys and Country Estates to explore.

We could not agree more with Lonely Planets decision to include the South of Scotland on its best in travel 2023 list. The Scottish Borders especially have fantastic activities and hospitality just waiting to be discovered. Coldstream Holiday Park is situated on the edge of the historic border town of Coldstream, the ideal base for exploring the South East of Scotland. The area offers multiple country estates and many country walks, fantastic live music events, rounds of golf, great food prepared from local produce and world class Salmon fishing on the River Tweed.
